About

TreatMeBetta is a cultural and lifestyle platform for Black women who want to live well — emotionally, financially, relationally, and spiritually.

This is a space for women who are tired of being strong without being supported, accomplished without being at ease, and successful without feeling fulfilled.

Here, we talk about what it really takes to build a life that feels good — not just looks good.

Who this is for

TreatMeBetta was created for Black women who:

  • are navigating work, money, relationships, and aging in a world that asks too much of them
  • want more peace without shrinking themselves
  • want financial stability without burnout
  • want love and boundaries that don’t require self-abandonment
  • are ready to choose themselves without guilt

If that sounds like you, you’re home.

What we believe

We believe Black women deserve:

  • rest without apology
  • money without fear
  • relationships that feel safe
  • and lives that don’t require constant self-sacrifice

We don’t do gatekeeping, perfection, or pretending.

We do: truth, clarity, self-trust, emotional safety, and living well.

Where this comes from

TreatMeBetta was founded by Kellye Whitney — an award-winning editor, journalist, and communications strategist who has spent her career shaping conversations about leadership, culture, and identity.

After years of watching Black women carry more than they should — emotionally, financially, and relationally — she built TreatMeBetta as a place to speak honestly about what it means to live well in the real world.

That same perspective lives in her book, Live Well: A Black Woman’s Prerogative — a grounded, grown-woman guide to money, boundaries, and choosing yourself.

Why this platform exists

So many Black women were never taught:

  • how to protect their peace
  • how to build financial safety
  • how to stop over-giving
  • or how to choose themselves without shame

TreatMeBetta exists to change that.

Through essays, videos, and books, we offer the kind of guidance, clarity, and permission many of us needed earlier.
